SQUARING THE CIRCLE: ALTERED FORMS AT THE WHEEL with REBECCA BARNEY, Sunday, July 10, 2:30-5:30 PM
Join us to approach wheel-throwing from a new angle!
Everyone knows that pottery wheels are good at making things round - but what about the other shapes? In this 3-hour workshop with DCC artist Rebecca Barney, you'll learn how to take your wheel-thrown forms from basic to boxy, bent, and beautiful!
Rebecca will demonstrate a wide variety of throwing and altering techniques during the workshop, including reshaping rims, altering floors, and modifying your pots' silhouette through darts & cutouts! Students will learn through hands-on work at the wheel with Rebecca's guidance. This workshop goes over intermediate-level techniques, so students should be able to throw even-walled pots on the wheel.
By the end of the workshop, you will know several techniques for altering wheel-thrown forms, and have up to 3 of your own thrown and altered pots!
