District Clay offers a limited number of work/study positions for people who either cannot afford the full cost of a class or who want to learn more about how to operate a studio. Or both.
DCC's work/study program requires that participants spend a minimum of two hours a week or as long as four hours a week doing work around the Center. This can include everything from loading and running kilns, pugging clay, doing inventory, operating our amazing auto-floor scrubber and helping with our Gallery. We train you thoroughly and we don't require that you do any work that you don't feel up to (some work involves heavy lifting). You can learn the ends and outs of what it takes to run a Center of more than 250 students, artists and teachers.
In return, you can get your student fees either cut in half or removed altogether (half-time versus full time). If you are in our artist program, the details vary slightly.
