CLASS INTERMEDIATE WHEEL: Secrets to Refining Your Throwing Skills with Jill Ross Meltzer
This class will boost your confidence in wheel throwing as you gain mastery of new forms, develop altering skills and explore different decorating techniques. We’ll focus on eliminating problem areas---heavy bottoms, uneven walls, wobbly rims, drooping handles, ill-fitting lids, spouts that dribble and more. You’ll learn how to alter pots by ovaling, stacking, darting and faceting. And, be ready to explore special decorative techniques such as slip trailing, sgraffito, mashima, wax resist, water etching, monoprinting, stamping, marbeling, colored clay, and glaze on glaze techniques.
Each 10-week session will tackle different forms and techniques so the class can be repeated without duplication. There will be weekly demos and lots of one on one attention! Questions are required! Class size is limited to 9 students!
Prerequisite--students must be able to throw a 5” cylinder
