AMACO Glaze Workshop with Cory Brown: Midrange Wonders, Sat, 5/18, 9:30-noon
AMACO will be coming to District Clay to give a workshop on their mid-range Potter's Choice glazes, including their newest glazes, and what you can create with them. Participants will be able to try out new glazes and glaze combos - including Cosmic Tea Dust and Ancient Copper (see pic) - on pieces of bisqueware which will be fired in District Clay's electric kilns. This workshop is perfect for makers interested in commercial glaze options and how they can best be applied, mixed together and layered. Amaco's Potter's Choice glazes enable electric kiln users to achieve gas kiln reduction results.
The workshop and talk will be given by Cory Brown*. Brown is a nationally recognized potter who works for AMACO researching and developing new glazes. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about AMACO’s products and to learn new glazing techniques from one of Amaco's top researchers.
Included: Participants can bring up to three small pieces of waxed bisqueware that will be fired to cone 6 in District Clay's kilns. Pieces should be the size of a small bowl or mug. Pieces will be available for pick-up two weeks after the workshop concludes.
Sat, May 18, 9:30-noon, $15
Cory will also be giving an free artist talk called "Stretching Color" on Friday, May 17th from 6:30-8pm. Brown will discuss his new methods for creating, layering and folding colored clay in his studio work, life in the Village of Alfred New York and what inspires him to push ceramics boundaries.
