One Shot! class held on Sunday 5:30-8:00 pm. You get a wheel, clay, a nice instructor and 2.5 hours to try your hand at the pottery wheel. You may be mesmerized . . . or not. The wheel looks easy but it can seem to have a mind of its own. We do promise you'll have fun.
Please be on time! This is a fast paced class where you will try out numerous steps on the pottery wheel. Your first demo starts at 5:40 pm.
What we provide: Almost everything. Just bring a small towel or apron. Because you are working with wet clay, there is nothing to take home, except those hilarious memories*.
Max: eight socially distanced students. ($75/per person)
A bonus: if your One Shot! thrills you, you will get a coupon for 10% off your next ten week session. If you don't, at least you got some mud on your hands. Never a bad thing.
IMPORTANT:
Everyone entering District Clay must be fully vaccinated. In order to take this class, you must present your vaccination card or photo to gain entrance to the class. People who do not show their vaccination card will not be allowed to enter District Clay. No refunds for people who do not present this information. For more information on District Clay's vaccination requirements, please go here.
Per DC government regulations, masks are required at all times.
Refund Policy:
Because these classes are small in size and fill quickly, we need 10 days notice if you cannot make your One Shot to be able to refund your money - please email membership@districtclaycenter.com. If you want to reschedule, you will need to register for a new date via the normal web registration process on this page.
*Why can't you take a pot home?:
The reason is that from putting clay down on the wheel to picking up a fired pot is literally a seven week process: 1) making the clay pot on the wheel, 2) drying the pot to leather hard and then trimming it, 3) drying the leather hard pot to bone dry status so that it can be bisque fired, 4) firing the bone dry pot in a bisque kiln to prepare it for glaze, 5) glazing the pot, 6) firing the pot in a glaze kiln 7) picking up the pot.
