Camp Clay for Kids, July 15-19, 10 am - 3 pm
Give the your kids the gift of clay this summer and perhaps send them on lifetime adventure! During this one week camp, your kids will learn each of the fundamental techniques for making beautiful ware from clay. From wheel throwing to coil building, from pinch pots to slab built ware, from glazing to decorating techniques, each day will be an exploration into a new type of ceramic construction.
Each day will include a pottery-related video and a short hike, weather permitting, looking at shapes in the natural environment and possible decorative themes for their ware.
Ages 9 - 14. Fees include instruction, clay, glazes, tools and bisque and clay firing. Snacks provided; each child should be bring a bag lunch. Maximum of ten students in this clay intensive. Ware can be picked up three weeks after the class ends. Taught by the head of our kids classes, Carol Herwig.
Day 1 - pinch-pot handbuilding, making small bowls and cups. We will use fans to hurry drying and allow addition of handles.

Day 4 - slab building of tiles and small plates, will include decorating with underglazes on greenware.
Day 5 - paint and decorate bisque pots, to be picked up at a later date.
