Private Parties at District Clay

Schedule a Fun-Filled Private Party at District Clay!
Private one on one (or two...) instruction also available.

A Handbuilding Party is for those who want to build, design and create a finished piece of pottery.
A Wheel Throwing Party is a fun filled (and challenging) adventure in working on the pottery wheel.

Fair warning:  attending a pottery party may lead to a life-long avocation.

We offer these parties on weekday afternoons, Monday & Thursday mornings and Saturday nights.  We typically need around 4 weeks advance notice to schedule a party.

Parties organized by current District Clay students and artists qualify for a 10% reduction in price.

COVID-19 entry requirements:  Anyone entering District Clay must provide proof of vaccination (either a photo or paper vaccination card).

Private Handbuilding Party

Our Handbuilding Parties are both fun and instructive.  We design these parties so that each person goes on their own creative adventure.

You can also schedule a one on one private lesson with one of our teachers.

During this hand-building event, you will go on their own creative adventure.  you will be taught one or more of the following hand-building techniques:  Pinch, coil or slab-building depending on what you want to create.

You will be using Air Dry Clay which does not require firing and means you can take your creation home with you.  (Air Dry clay is not suitable for use with food.)

In the process, you will learn basic handbuilding skills including using a variety of clay tools for decorating and texturing.

COVID-19 entry requirements:  Anyone entering District Clay must provide proof of vaccination (either a photo or paper vaccination card).

To schedule a Private Handbuilding Party, please fill out this quick questionnaire.

Private Wheel Throwing Party

Celebrate a birthday, anniversary, holiday or friends getting together to try their hands dirty at the pottery wheel.  These are fun, laugh-filled and muddy events for members of your party.

You can also schedule a one on one private lesson on the wheel with one of our teachers.

Working on the pottery wheel is fun . . . and challenging.  It requires eye to hand coordination, careful placement of your hands and firm control over a rapidly spinning wheel.  Don't expect to make a perfect pot.

But you will be thrilled when you cause a cylinder to rise out of a solid lump of clay using your own two hands.  A rare few may even experience FLOW.

Because you are working with wet clay, there is nothing to take home except, of course, some fun memories.

COVID-19 entry requirements:  Anyone entering District Clay must provide proof of vaccination (either a photo or paper vaccination card).
