Workshop - CLAY CHARACTERS: WHIMSICAL BUSTS with ISOLINA MINJEONG ALVA, Sun, 11/14, 11 AM - 5 PM
Join us in sculpting a whimsical character bust with acclaimed artist Isolina Minjeong Alva!
In this 6-hour workshop on Sunday, November 14, artist Isolina Minjeong Alva will walk you through sculpting a large one-foot-tall bust of your very own! Demonstrating their fail-proof slab-building and portrait sculpting methods, Isolina will show participants how to build a bust from scratch.
Surfacing examples will also be introduced to the class after a break for lunch. Isolina utilizes slips and underglazes in conjunction with unorthodox materials such as resin, spray paint, and wood glue. In this workshop, Isolina will demonstrate professional tips and tricks for dynamic slip surface decoration!
By the end of the workshop, you will walk away with confidence in preparing and constructing a portrait bust, as well as an exciting new clay buddy!
